Cerro Rico Hoard cobs!

$60.00 - $65.00

The latest silver treasure coming out of the Black Spot Guild forge; Cerro Rico Hoard pirate coins!

The Cerro Rico Hoard is a famous stash of Spanish cobs aka pirate coins, that were lost shortly after they were minted about 1751, and discovered in the 2000's along the mule path not far from Potosi, Peru! The originals were in basically new uncirculated condition, so most you find for sale are bright shiny silver. They are almost entirely all very thick chunky "clipped" planchettes. The shape, thickness, and finish makes cobs that came from the Potosi mint around that time stick out from a mile away!

My version is no different. I make them in the exact same fashion; pouring fine molten silver out onto an anvil in a long thick "strap", chopping the strap up into correctly weighted planchettes (27 grams), then striking them between steel dies! Just like the originals, each one is unique. Then just like the real Cerro Rico Hoard cobs, the standard will be a shiny finish unless antiqued is selected. Compared to most of my other cobs that are about 1.25" across, these are closer to an inch; nice and thick!

Choose between the traditional 27 gram weight or the more modern 31 gram (1oz) weight. With either a Natural or antiqued finish.
